New soccer field in Humboldt park.
Driving home from Logan Square through the grand old boulevards, I pass this soccer field. It's been a dry winter with little snow, the trees are still bare and the winter palette is the usual tamped down hues of gray and brown. Those are my preferred wardrobe colors; drab is elegant in a pant, yet tiresome in the environment. This synthetic grass, newly placed, was like a gorgeous color field painting. Remember Rudolf Stingel's orange carpets?
Just watched a documentary on Paul Strand. He never titled his works except his last image, taken from his bed in 1975, and with enough sight to aim at the window: "A Bird on the Edge of Space."
